TFLX: User-friendly voice mail/IVR
for the Macintosh

BY SCOTT GOLDMAN
The TFLX system from Magnum Software is a hardware/software package that runs voice mail, interactive voice response (IVR), fax on demand, and other telephone applications on the Apple Macintosh.

What makes TFLX unique is a remarkably easy approach to creating and running even sophisticated voice processing capabilities. While the system is used by telephone hardware manufacturers and regional Bell operating companies as a complete prototyping and application building tool, TFLX is easy enough for most end-users to master quickly. The product's icon-based environment makes creating and installing custom phone applications simple and understandable, and should allow a non technical user to assemble his own basic voice mail system or other phone application often in under an hour.

Together with a Macintosh and a hard disk, the basic $495 TFLX package performs voice mail and IVR on a single incoming line. Additional TFLX hardware units, each connected to their own Macintosh, can be networked to provide multi-line coverage. The system will run on any Macintosh

model from the Plus or later with 2.5 megabytes of RAM and a hard disk of 20 megabytes or more.

TFLX allows an unlimited number of voice mailboxes, provided there is sufficient disk space (approximately 21 megabytes per hour) for all the stored messages. When the system is running on a network, TFLX has the bonus of making use of multiple hard disks and will automatically re-route messages for storage onto any
