June 12, 1989 Mr. Scott McTyre Dear Scott: I have started using the Teleflex system, first programming it to handle all the functions of my answering service, and then to interface with other computer applications in my office. It is one of the most exciting and innovative products, not only in the Macintosh marketplace, but for all computer environments. Teleflex is clearly ahead of its time in the implementation of the iconic programming language, which makes learning and then implementing the code very easy. I would say that Teleflex is as creative and exciting as well as easy to use as any computer application available to date. Teleflex is exceptional in its capabilities and power. Not only can it handle almost any telephone activity but the iconic programming environment makes creating applications easier than any other program I know of. I have developed a complete medical office answering system that can handle emergency calls both from touch tone and rotary phones and page the doctor within 45 seconds, while handling routine and personal calls, and allows one to be off call to another doctor, be reached at any phone number in the United States, and be beeped or called at any number to be reminded of meetings, important dates etc. In testing the product over a one month period, it was more reliable than my answering service in getting messages to me, and patients found they were more confident I would receive their message, than having to rely on a traditional answering service which often kept them on hold for two to three minutes, didn't take their message properly, often didn't answer for twelve to twenty rings, and many times failed to properly give me the message. Additionally Teleflex is far cheaper over a one to two year period than paying answering service fees. I am currently evaluating Teleflex for use at Cedars Sinai Hospital as an electronic mailbox for communication among physicians, as well as a data base of patient data that can be accessed by telephone. It is also being evaluated for the renal transplant program at Cedars Sinai to make transplant data available to the physicians by telephone. I am in the testing phase of these applications and demonstrating it to the physicians at Cedars Sinai. The initial reports are that they would like to purchase the system and plan to do so in the next three to four months. Sincerely,
